Since 1983, the festival has been held every year in the Palais de Festivals et des Congres. A jury is of VIPs in all fields is selected to choose which films will receive a Cannes award. The Palme D Or or "Golden Palm" is given to the best film of the festival. The 2012 Cannes Film Festival has a jury that includes indie and mainstream actor Ewan MacGregor, fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier and actress Diane Kruger. The face of this year s festival is the late Marilyn Monroe. On the second day of Cannes, Marion Cotillard looked dolled up in pink Christian Dior for a photocall for her movie Rust and Bone, or De Rouille et D os in French. She was joined by actor Matthias Schoenaerts and writer/director Jacques Audiard. That night, actresses Eva Longoria and Freida Pinto looked like modern princesses in their Emilio Pucci and Atelier Versace ensembles at the Rust and Bone screening that night. Of course, they couldn t steal the limelight from the movie s star Cotillard, who captivated in Christian Dior Couture. Also walking on the red carpet, martial arts movie star Jackie Chan. Rumor is that Chan will be steering away from action roles in the future. Designers (and twin sisters) Barbara and Lucia Croce like to keep their clothing minimal, with shapes playing a key role. Tunics were cut into square shapes with just a hint of peplum over the pants. Some colorblocking and geometric shapes are evident, though there isn t a focus on prints in the slightest. Furs, sheer dresses, and cocktail frocks are the focus here and lavish evening wear is almost nonexistent. Golan interviews designer Christophe Guillarme for his take on the collection. "It s an old brand with a lot of history so it s really good to see this kind of brand returning to life with very beautiful designs and the shapes were amazing," he says. SUBSCRIBE: http://bit.ly/FashionTVSUB http://www.FashionTV.com/videos PARIS Hairstylist Odile Gilbert fills us in on the hairdo for the Vanessa Bruno show at Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012 2013. "We re doing static, electric, kind of cashmere hair," she tells FashionTV, "We have this touch of color like green on brunette and purple on blonde girls." The color is related to the collection. "We just squeeze their hair," she says, "It s not a chignon, it s just all packed." It s a feeling of winter, of cashmere, she says. Makeup Artist Diane Kendal says Bruno was inspired by the street girls in Tokyo crossed with Blade Runner. "But Vanessa s very true to herself, she always likes her girls to look very cool, especially in the face, understated," she adds. "So we ve gone for a more illuminous contour look for Vanessa." They prepped the skin with gina oil, then used a light coverage foundation. For the eyes, they used a color called Siberian Sable which they applied in the contour and around, blending with a brush. There is mascara on the eyebrows and filled in eyebrows, making them a focal point. A blush called Blushing was used on the apples of the cheeks. Taupe brown eyeshadow was used underneath for contouring in the temples. White shimmer was used on top of the cheekbone and the browbone.
